Hi this is Jenny with simple beautiful crafts on behalf of expertvillage.com. I'd like to show you some of the supplies that you might want to have on hand when you are making a shadow box. If you are going to make a traditional shadow box from one that you purchase at the store you need to know when you take the back of it is going to be a simple piece of foam cord board. You want to do something probably to enhance that foam cord board. It is just going to be plan white. If that is what you want that is fine. But if you want some kind of a back ground behind your picture that is going to make it stand out or your items you want to do something with that foam cord backing. I have several ideas here. One idea that I will be using is to cover with fabric. There are a variates of fabric of course that you can use and depending on what you are going to put in your shadow box. You can also use some cork or sand paper, you can use scrape booking paper, you can use felt, a lot of different colors and kind of felt to cover your board. You might also want to get a piece of foam cord board like this or you might want to get a piece of poster board like this. If you are going to do something other then a traditional shadow box because you might want to fit inside. Like for instance you are going to use a basket you might want to put a piece of foam cord in your basket to attach things to. You might also want to cover your foam cord board with moss or glasses or something like that. For putting your objects into your shadow box whether if is a traditional shadow box or one that you are using less traditional you are going to want something to fasten it. You might want silver wire or copper wire depending on what you are putting in there. You might need some plain old Elemers glue or some spray adhesives and you are going to need some tools to cut things with. You may need the...knife or maybe a small hex saw. There are many other things that you can use but if you have some of these basic tools to get started you are on your way to making some creative fun, different, shadow boxes for your home or for your gifts.
