How to Wrap a Christmas Present

Ho, ho, ho, Santa Claus here for Expert Village.com. Now normally all the hard work of wrapping the gifts for everyone at the North Pole is done by the elves. But there are those special gifts I want to give that personal touch to. Like this one for instance, for my idiot brother-in-law. This I will wrap personally to conceal its rather obvious shape. For concealment, the best trick is always a box. Whatever is in a box looks rectangular. You pop it in the box, close the box up and one little strip of tape across the top will hold the box closed while you wrap it. Get your wrapping paper and your wrapping paper should be its nice if it’s a holiday color. I know the orange and black stuff is cool at Halloween but it doesn’t cut it at Christmas. You roll out your paper on the table. What you want to do here is measure the paper so that you have the right amount. Don’t waste any paper. Not only does it cost you extra money but it makes your package kind of hideous. You want to roll it out so that the paper comes about 2/3 up the length of the box from this side. Yeah, right about there and then you want to cut it off about the same point of this side, about 2/3 up the height of the box. The key thing about paper is if you are clever in coordinating you don’t have to scissor scissor. The scissor you just slide it right along and should cut right off nice and smooth for you like so. Having cut your paper you want to roll the sides up here. The idea is for each of these two sides come just a little bit passed center so you bring it up here. You see how far past center it is. Fold some of that excess under. Just like so. Now bring it up. We are going just a little bit past center there. Sharp corners. Sharp corners tight creases and every corner makes your package look professional. They will appreciate the wrapping a lot more than the contents. Tape that bit down there. Bring it around the other side and do the same thing. Fold down some of the excess here. Now it doesn’t take a lot of tape. All you are really wanting to do is each little bit of tape is to hold what you got in place. Keep pressing your corners sharp as you go along. Tape it down like so. Now the trick to the ends is to have the ends look good is again going to be sharp corners and creases and we want to get rid of as much of the extra bulk as possible. We do that by pressing down the top where these folds are first. Take her all the way down right back to the edge of the corners like so. Get yourself a nice tight crease right there. Same thing over here. Bring her right down the corner; cut yourself a nice tight crease. Then you can roll your sides in. Again, keep everything tight and everything all the way to the edge. Nice crease right there. Bring in this side; bring your bottom up, spot of tape and voila. We have successfully wrapped a package with good, sharp, crisp professionally-looking but to really make our package attractive, we need a ribbon. Good thing, pick your bow so that it is not bigger than the package or too much smaller than the package and try to pick one in contrasting color so that it will stand out and make your gift stand out as something really special on Christmas Day. This is Santa Claus wishing you a Merry Christmas from Expert Village.
