Hi! This is Mike on behalf of expertvillage.com. For more information about bicycle maintenance please visit Prairie Path Cycles in Winfield, Illinois or visit our website at www.prairiepathcycles.com. In this clip I’m going to be showing you how to take off your rear wheel. So the first thing you are going to want to do is shift the gears into the smallest sprocket and the reason you would want to do that isn't so much for when you are taking the wheel off or when you are putting it on if you do not remember what gear you left off on when you are putting it back on and then when you go do peddle it could skip and then possibly ruin the derailleur or you could even possibly get hurt. So the first thing you want to do is shift down to the lowest gear. Then once you do that it is pretty similar to the front wheel. So first you are going to want to disconnect the brakes and again you do that by holding the brake noodle and pushing the arm closest to that end and then once it disconnects then you are all set to loosen up the skewer. Now this is the same processes in the front but even a little easier. So once you grab the quick release lever pull that down your rear will then drop out. There is no safety mechanism on the back so you do not have to touch the other knob. So once you do that your wheel is out and you are ready to go.
super useful, thanks
