How to Practice Your Putting

Hello! On behalf of expertvillage.com, my name is Bryan Pemberton from the Reserve at Spanos Park and we've talked about some putting drills today and some things we can do to improve our putting. You will fine next time you are practicing you are going to find that it is very tough to actually practice the putting sometimes. It's kind of boring and you don't get to see the long drive but a lot of players don't practice their putting as much as they need to and again that's one of the things you are going to find that saves more strokes in adding 30 yards or 15 yards to your drives. Again next time you go out and play on a golf course, take a look at your stats and look at how many putts you had on your score guard and kind of total those up and see if we can get somewhere around 30. Your average tour player will have somewhere around 30 or 29 and again if your putts are over 36, then you are definitely not spending enough time in the putting green. Again keep practicing, keep practicing. Have some of the things that determine your scores and we can actually come out here and have little games with yourself and actually have a goal when you are actually practicing. If I am actually going to putt and practice, I am going to try and make 10, 15 footers or a 100 3 footers or something where you can actually have a goal to where you have something that you are actually trying to do when you are practicing. Again practicing your putting is not one of the more exciting things to do but you are going to find you are going to save a lot more strokes practicing your putting than you will with any other club. This club right here you are going to use more times than any other club in your bag, more than the driver. So again this is going to be very important to use this and make sure we get the putts down around 30. Your average tour player has around 29. Again if you have a chance to see your PGA professional, stop by and take some lessons. It will be worth it. For all the beginners out there, I can't tell you how important it is to get the good sound basics. We don't have to work out any bad habits.
