Hi! I'm Michael Lamendola with expertvillage.com, and today we're going to shoot some pool. Alright, you got your stick, you figured out how to hold it, now let's figure out how to shoot with it. Your hand is going to make what's called a bridge. Now, there's a few different ones I'm going to show you. The first one is a basic one, and oddly enough, it's the one that I like to use. Basically, take you hand and make a nice tripod and make a little butt cleavage with your thumb and your finger right there. That's going to be where the stick is going to lie. See right here. This goes and smooth all the way through. Now, these 4 fingers here, they're going to keep your hand in place so it's not wobbling around. If your hand is like that or like that, it's not very stable. So keep your hand nice and wide, fingers played. Again, when you're coming down, make sure you're looking down the barrel of the gun. Now, in all these bridges you want to make sure that you're giving your cue enough room to go back and forth. If you put your bridge here, this feels really short. I'm not getting a lot of play. Keep your bridge nice and far back. Now, your second bridge is a little more advanced. It's kind of like an okay symbol. Now, the stick is going to rest between your thumb and your finger right down here. Wrap the finger around it, keep it tight and your 3 fingers are going to be displayed to keep it steady. I don't like this one as much, but all the pros do it so you can't argue with it, but that's another choice for you to use. Finally, sometimes your ball's going to be against the rail. In that case, you don't want to do this. The ball is going to have weird action; it's not going to go smooth. Just strike through the ball just as if the rail wasn't there. Same thing. You can use this, you can use this, but even if you want. Just guide it with your fingers like that. Now, whatever you do, it's really important that you keep a certain motion in your elbow. Whenever I'm striking the ball, if you look all the movement happens from the elbow down. Nothing's happening up here. All this from the elbow to the shoulder has to stay real still. It's just from the elbow down. That's where all the action happens. That's so the stick goes nice and straight and doesn't have a lot of play in it. Next up, I'll tell you how to actually hit the ball.
