Cooking Tips for Light Waffle Recipe
Hi! I'm Karen for Expert Village. Now we are going to cook our waffles. We are going to be using two different waffle makers. This is a conventional waffle maker. This is the normal one grid padder. We are also going to be using a Belgium waffle maker. Notice that the Belgium waffle maker has a bigger grid system. This makes deeper bigger holes for little bit crispier thicker waffle. First I am going to show you a trick because it is very difficult to make some of the waffles without the batter spilling out so I am going to place a piece of baking paper, you can also put a piece of foil under your waffle maker so that when the waffle batter does drip out of the waffle maker, don't worry about it, you 'll just pick it up and clean it away. It takes a little while to get used to exactly how much batter you can put in yo8ur waffle maker and while you are experimenting it will drip out. Sometimes even when you know how much your waffle maker will take, the batter differs here and there and some will spill out. Now we are going to cook our waffles. First you want to pre-heat your waffle iron before you start. Most waffle irons have two indicator lights. The red light will show that the waffle iron is plugged in and off and the green light will show the waffle iron is nice and hot and ready to cook. It will also show you when the waffles are finished and to be removed from the pan. We are going to be cooking our quick and easy batter in a regular waffle iron and our light and airy batter in our Belgium waffle maker. Let's get started. Now this waffle iron my regular one is pretty old and used. I am going to spray with a little bit of pan spray, just a tiny bit because it may stick even though it has a non-stick surface a little bit of spray if you find your waffles are sticking. I am going to use 1/3 cup of batter in each waffle section. Just pour that all in there and just close it up. Okay the Belgium waffle maker is just a little bit bigger and it is a brand new machine. I am not going to use any kind of pan spray but if you find that your waffle iron sticks you can always use a little bit of pan spray. I am using 1/2 cup of batter because this is a little bit bigger and we will pour that right in there and close that up. You will see that the green light should turn off and then when it tuns on again the waffle should be ready to take out. You want to resist the temptation to open the waffle machine too early because you may pull that waffle apart. You want it to be completely cooked when you open it. It should open easily and you may remove the waffles.
