Skidding Tips for Mountain Biking

Now we are reaching more advance technique that is really only good on single use mountain bike trails, race courses and things like that cause it involves skidding. Skidding has some nasty environmental sort of implications but it is called a skid set up and what I'm doing is braking traction and pivoting my bike around the middle of the bike to make the corner easier. So by kicking the back end of my bike out the opposite direction of the way the corner is going I'm dealing with the fact that there is no trail over here to be riding on to make a nice clean apex through this corner. So I have gone out here to swing the bike around this way to give me more room and a more natural arch to come through. Watch as I take this corner again just doing all my braking in a straight line and arching through. As you can see while you know the first technique may look you know out of control it actually enables me to carry more momentum into a section. So it's something to take into a count if you are face into a situation to where you can ride and raise that you know you don't have to take trail impact to account so just one more thing to add to your tool box of riding techniques
