There are many different types of mountain bikes that you can take our for general ride in the woods. Today I have chosen one specific type that I might make my ride a little bit more challenging in some of the other bikes that you could choose. My bike has no suspension in the front, not suspension in the rear, it does have a full set of gears and really good brakes. But this bike not having any suspension in the front of the rear you know other bikes has springs and damper up to like 5-6 inches of travel that people use for this sort of application. But having suspension allows you to do is take lines that are rougher, it keeps your bike more stable and level in rough terrain and it keeps your tires on the ground so you can get better tractions so you can brake later you can turn harder and all that other sort of stuff. The reason that I have chosen to ride a ridged bike today is because it all the kind I need for these trials, like it make it more fun and more challenging. In a similar vein many people choose to ride cross country on bikes that only have one speed so you know if you choose a gear that somewhere in the middle and it makes keeping your momentum on down hills much more important because if you blow out a corner you can't shift up, get some extra gears and keep going. It makes climbing a lot more challenging because during a gear that is probably higher then what you select if you had multiple gears to choose from. So you have to work harder in chosen lines, working with momentums and stuff like that. So we have between 15-17 recognize sub sets and sub joiners in mountain biking. I mean it is almost like golf bag filled with mountain bikes you can have so the thing that I like to tell everybody is for just going out and learning the general fundamental of riding you don't need a fancy bike. You can ride a $500 bike and learn maybe more of the back then a bike that cost $5000 because the bike isn't you know correcting so many of your mistakes.
