Scrapbooking: Using a Template for a Memory Book

Hi! I am Ginny with Simply Beautiful Crafts. Please stop by for a visit at www.tlcproductionsonline.com. Today we are going to show you how to make a template for your paper bag memory book. You do not want your pages to overlap into the holes of your memory book because then you are going to have to do a lot of work to fix the mistake that you can easily avoid. When you have made the first few pages of your memory book and punched your holes, you are going to want to make a template for each page so that you stay within the bounds of the book. What I did was really quite simple. I used a piece of tag board; you can use tag board, just a plain piece of paper or even cardboard. I put a little bit of distance from the top of my bag and also inner ways from the holes on my bag so that I will not overlap the holes or the top and the bottom. Then I simply marked the same distance here and the same distance here and I just used a ruler. You can use a T which is going to give you a very straight line or you can use a ruler. Just cut out your template and then make sure you try it out, make sure that you did exactly what you wanted to do with it and hang on to this piece because it is going to be your best friend as you are making this book. Every time you make a page, you will want to make sure that all of the effort that goes into that page is going to be something you won’t have to re-do. Once you have cut out your template, you can lay it on your book and see if it is a good fit; that looks like a pretty good fit and I am also going to open my book and make sure that inside the first page it is still a good fit and yes, you are not going to want to put your binding in yet because you will be able to work your book much more easily but on the first page of my book I also can see that there is going to be room beside the holes. So this would be your template that you are going to use for every page of your memory book.
