Scrapbooking: Adding a Surprise Page to a Memory Book

Hi! I am Ginny with Simply Beautiful Crafts. Please stop by for a visit and a cup of tea at www.tlcproductionsonline.com. We are having fun making a paper bag memory book and perhaps one of the most fun pages is the surprise page because we have made this out of many paper bags, we of course have a little surprise page on every bag. I am left-handed and I did not realize when I made this bag that I was holding it like a left hander would. So when I made my insert for this bag, I made it to come out on the right side. You might consider making it come out on the left side if you happen to be making this book for a right-handed person. For this page I had a lot of fun just getting creative with my fonts but again you can do just about anything on any page. This particular page was all about all the friends that Sheila has and so I used different fonts to show different ways of having friends. I used a simple tag that I had gotten with my craft supplies but another excellent source of pictures are magazines; particularly ones with sleek pages. I then added to this a little bit of glitter just to give it a little pizazz and I found a metal plate in a bunch of doodads again at the craft stores or the Dollar Store and this one happens to say friendship so I put it all together, put another piece of ribbon on it so that it would be obvious there was a surprise in there and when it was all said and done it goes right in the surprise page and your recipient will see the tag and give it a pull and voilĂ  a surprise page. Just remember that if you want to do it for a right hander you might want to have it coming out the left side. Enjoy having surprises with your paper bag memory book.
