Hi, this is Alise McMahon with Expert Village.com and in this video series we are talking about dog toys. If you would like to find out more about my services, you can visit my website at www.canineheadstart.com. So we’ve been talking a little bit about different types of toys, different things your dog can engage in and we are going to talk about marrow bones here. You can see this little puppy is very interested in the subject right here. This is a frozen marrow bone. You can pick them up at your local butcher and you can pick them up at most supermarkets. Some people know them as soup bones. This is a frozen one. Typically what you want to do is get the bone, keep it frozen and you can give it directly to your dog frozen. Here you go kid. You can see that it has some meat on the outside, has the marrow on the inside and it has some fat on the outside. This is a great thing for your dog to chew on. This little girl here is changing her juvenile teeth into her adult teeth. She can really sit here and chew on this nice cold frozen bone and relieve some of the pressure of the pain in her teeth. If you get a nice size one for the size dog, there is no risk of them breaking any teeth in the back. One thing you want to be careful when talking about size here, you do want to be careful about what size you get for your dog. This here is one that has already been eaten up and this is something that she ate about a month or two ago and she was much smaller. At this size you can see the difference. I am giving her a much larger bone. You want to be careful that you don’t have thin narrow ones because you don’t want the bone to get stuck back on their jaw. So you want to always buy something much larger than you would think the dog would be able to chew on. You don’t want them to be able to fit the bone in the mouth. This would be very small for her to be eating right now. Once the dog has eaten all the marrow out of the bone, then you basically got this empty shell. These are great for stuffing with your favorite can dog food and then stick that in the freezer in a plastic bag and at any one time you can have 10 of these in the freezer. These are great if you are going to be sitting down having dinner. You want the dog to have something to do, put them in their crate or next to you with their marrow bone and they will be happy and content eating that while you are eating your dinner. Also a great thing to leave with them in their crate when you go away and you have to be gone for a couple of hours so they are not sitting around bored.
