I am Heather McCanna on behalf of expertvillage.com and today I will be discussing card making basics. Specifically birthday card decorating. Today I'm going to be making a birthday card for a birthday boy. These is a young child so did a western theme for his card. Thus far I use a horizontal orientation card which opens from the bottom and I already writing my message on it. Just to make it quicker for you to see. You can put any message that you want as it fit the theme that you chosen. Along with the writing I'm also going to include some sticker which I have from my local art supplies store. These also need to fit the theme of the card. So I have a bull, as well as a cactus simply to fit the western theme. When you open the card I went ahead and includes a message that still fits the theme of the card. In addition to this you can also put more decoration on the inside of the card using other stickers or hand drawing decorations. I'm going to include a few cowboy boots stickers just to further the western theme. I use basic markers on both the inside and the outside of the card. It is important to make sure as you see in the red writing that your markers don't bleed as this don't make for a pleasing card. So it is good to test your markers before you go ahead and write the message as now I have to start my card over. So it is important to keep in mind when you are decorating a birthday card that you make it colorful and fun as well as tailored to the person you are given it to.
