How to Apply Mascara Makeup

Hi! I’m Yvette Parrish. Thanks for joining me at Expert Village. Today, I’m going to show you how to apply makeup properly, professionally, and the use of brushes. We’re going to take a mascara—look at this right here—and I am going to apply it two ways. You apply it on top like this, and then you apply it underneath; and you wonder why, and I will tell you. Because if you only do this, like most women do, apply it, you are actually putting a lot of product on your eyelashes, and it will make them wilt. So if you want them to curl, you have to do the top and the bottom, the top and the bottom, because we are coating the lashes from both angles, the top and the bottom. And this is how you get them to stay, and that way you can see the difference between the two, what a difference that makes. Applying the mascara down below and on the top, top, bottom, top, bottom. And if you can get a mascara wand that is shaped similar to this, you see how it is skinny, goes skinny at the very top, then it is easier for you to apply in the corners; and some mascara, if you look at the wands they are different shaped wands… there you go, very pretty. I am going to go the other side and do her other. And I am doing on top and then on bottom, top and on bottom. You are kind of painting, you are painting the eyelashes on both sides. And this is probably the most common mistake that I see women make is apply something like mascara, something so simple like mascara. You try to get every part of your lashes. This is the part of your makeover, spend a little time on, especially if you are not going to add false lashes. You want to make the most side of the mascara. You know, a lot of women this is the quickest step they do. They boom, boom, boom, they are done. You are really not making the most out of your eyelashes. You are not making the most out of the formula that the mascara is meant to do, so it is a little prep work. You know, warm up your eyelash curler, not too much though, curl your eyelashes. Take your time doing your mascara. This is what is going to make a difference between an ordinary makeover to a spectacular makeover, a few details. What I am doing is, I am painting her lashes. I am taking the skinny part of the brush and I am painting her bottom lashes like this.
