How to Apply Liquid Foundation Makeup

Hi! I am Yvette Parrish. Thanks for joining me at Expert Village. Today, I’m going to show you how to apply makeup properly, professionally, and the use of brushes. And this is my college student, so I know that she wants natural to medium coverage. So I chose a liquid foundation in a yellow base, and you can see how wonderful it matches her skin. Most people have a yellow base to their skin. If you are not sure what your under coloring is of your skin, I would recommend maybe going to a department store and having one of the makeup artists maybe have a look at you, and that way you can kind of tell. Some people can’t tell… am I a yellow base, am I orange based? Most people are yellow based, typically about 70% of people. Even if you have some red in your skin or some pink, if you wear a yellow base foundation, it kind of knocks it out and it looks really pretty. I am applying the liquid with my finger. Anytime you apply makeup with your finger it is more coverage. When you use a sponge, and I will show you right here, if you use a sponge, the sponge absorbs a lot of the makeup, so in turn when I grab it and apply it, it is much more sheer. If you want a little bit more coverage… like I want a little bit under her eyes and I am using my finger. Try to always use your middle or your ring finger to apply makeup, not your index finger. This is the strongest finger you have in your hand, and you could hurt somebody accidentally. So always use your ring finger to apply makeup. Because I want to give her a little coverage I am using my fingers, but you can do either one. You can see in the sponge how much makeup it absorbs, and it also wastes makeup as well, so I like to use my fingers. I am going to go on the other side and do her other side. You can always use the sponge to help blend it out, but it will remove some makeup at the same time.
