after watching this video, i made "trumpets" for all 6 of my children. none of the tikes actually had the lung capacity to make these things work, so i started playing them myself. it turns out that i'm a natural talent, and even though i never touched a trumpet until just a year ago, i'll be making my debut with the New York Philharmonic later this month. thanks annie!

How to Make a Homemade Trumpet Using Soda Bottles & Hose

Hello this is Annie Brunson on behalf of Expert Village. We are making musical instruments out of everyday household items. Today we are going to make a horn. You will need a old piece of hose pipe and either a funnel or a 2 liter soda bottle. First thing we are going to do is actually cut the end off the soda bottle. Then we are going to fit in the soda bottle over the end of the pipe. We take some duct tape and I'm going to tape soda bottle on to the pipe. Next thing you need to do is to make it short enough to hold. This particular tube kinks to much so I can't curl it over sometimes you could curl it over and then play it but, this one kinks because it is a old hose. So I'm going to cut the tube short enough so I can hold it. Then I'm going to put it to my lips and blow extremely hard.
