Learn the Supplies Needed to Housetrain a Dog

Hi this is Elise McMahon for Expert Village.com and in this video series we are talking about house training your dog. So we are going to be talking about your house cleaning supplies or puppy cleaning supplies really. What you need to have on hand whether you have an adult dog or a puppy that is not yet house broken. First thing you want is to invest in a large number of paper towels. When you are having a new puppy especially a puppy in the house don’t just buy one roll at a time, go out and get yourself an 8 pack or 12 pack. Have a lot of them on hand. You want to have a supply of newspapers handy and you definitely want to have some sort of cleaning solution that will actually eliminate odors. Take a look if you can see this. It doesn’t matter what brand you use at all but you want to make sure that it will eliminate all stains and odors. What we are concerned about mostly is the odor. If the odor is still there even if you can’t see it anymore, your dog will continue to go to that spot. This stuff can be very expensive. I suggest buying it in bulk and transferring it into a smaller spray bottle that you can go around and carry around the house. You are also going to want some sort of a scoop that you can use a sharp flat metal surface that you can use for dealing with a mess of poo. You are going to want to pick it up with this especially if it is loose stool or diarrhea type of stool. We’ve got out newspapers here that we are going to be putting that on and also bring to the mess when you go, a plastic bag; something pretty simple and basic. A lot of times people get there and they have everything, but they don’t have any place to put the paper towels. You do not want to put the dirty soiled paper towels onto a clean spot on your rug because the scent of the urine will go there and you won’t be realizing it and won’t spray it. You definitely need to have a bag with you when you go to clean up a mess.
