Coin Roll Magic Trick

My name is Wayne Phelps. I’m a professional magician. This is expertvillage.com. What I want to teach you how to do is something called a coin roll. This is a coin flourish. This when coupled with magical effects, really sells the magicians abilities as a coin manipulator and a prestidigitator. It’s really fun, it’s really cool, it’s not that easy to do but when coupled with a simple effect like a French drop vanish, it really sales as an extra pizazz or a flair that the trick just didn’t have before. To do a coin roll all you need to do is learn to balance a coin on your thumb, just like this. Now bring the coin up and clip it with your first finger. Let it roll over to your second finger, let it roll over to your third finger and let it roll over and clip it with your pinky. When you clip with your pinky how enough sticking down to where your thumb can catch it and bring it back up and around and do it again. Practice this several times. Keep the coin in your hand and your pocket all the times and just keep doing it. Now just like other coin magic, coin rolls are different from hand to hand. Your hand is bigger, so you might find easier to use a silver dollar. Your hands might be a little bit smaller, so you might find it easier to use quarter. I don’t recommend anything smaller because its difficult to handle anything smaller than a quarter. I find that a silver half dollar is just the right size and weight. I like the silvers but they weigh more and it gives it a better feel and makes it a little bit easier to do the coin roll. Sooner or later you will master it and you’ll be doing coin rolls at the best. This is a coin roll.
