Tips for Loose Gravel in Mountain Biking Cornering

MICKEY DENONCOURT: You encounter two different types of loose conditions from your cornering. You encounter big loose rocks which are, you know, really a game of hanging on and playing pinball and trying to go, at least, sort of the direction you want to go. And then, loose dirt can be either loose over hard pack, which is my favorite condition to ride in, cause it's very unpredictable, or it can just be loose loamy dirt. Loose loamy dirt, might the closest thing you could describe it to is hero snow when you're skiing. Loose loamy dirt, you can just destroy, doesn't matter how badly your corner can run---like your corner well. With a loose over hard pack, which is about what this training is running like, right now, what you need to do is you need to brake earlier, even earlier than normal, and really force your weight through the bike. You don't want to take your feet off, you want to keep them on the bike, you want to keep them centered, cause what does that, is it makes a little bit more predictable, otherwise, with loose over hard pack stuff, it's sort of "skiddery", you'll slide, you know, catch them when you slide. So, want to just sort of a--it's almost like ice. So, watch as I come through.
