Tips for Body Position in Mountain Biking Cornering

MICKEY DENONCOURT: As I roll slowly through this nice open corner, I'm going to show you what good body position is going to look like. I'm going to have my favorite foot forward so for me it's my left foot. My left foot will be forward, maybe even my outside foot will be dropped, I'll be weighting the inside of the handlebar and my weight distribution will be good and good and low and even. I sort of stuck my inside knee out a little bit too so that's just real low speed. As I come through here a little bit higher with the good body position will be much more exaggerated and you really get a good idea of what good body position looks like. So we want to get low, we want to weight the handlebars pretty well when we're going through the apex of the corner to keep that front tire digging in. I want to weight my outside pedal to keep my back tire digging in and then just chin low, look forward and that's what you want to do. You don't want to stand up like you had a board in your back because you're not going to distribute your weight well between your wheels.
