Hi! My name is John Armstrong from ExpertVillage.com. Today I will be discussing with you the ins and outs of electric Blues Guitar. Okay another scale that we integrate in with the pentatonic scale is the blue scale, they are pretty much synonymous with each other, wherever the pentatonic scale works you can usually typically use the blue scale, this has been my experience that works that way. The blue scale is created by adding a flatted fifth note to the pentatonic scale, so here is my minor pentatonic scale, add a flatted fifth, now when I add a flatted fifth I am referring to the flatted fifth note of the major scale, adding that note flatted fifth and its octave to the pentatonic scale we will create a six note scale that we will refer to as a blue scale. It just comes up with kind of a neater sound. Also you can add other notes, bend notes outside of the pentatonic scale into the pentatonic scale for example if I just take this F sharp note and bend it up into my G note. So that was the combination of flatted fifths there add in with the pentatonic scale.
