Mountain Bike Racing Tips

So, things to remember when you're getting to the top of the hill, grab yourself some gears, get some harder gears before you start heading downhill, so you can really make use of your drive-train. The other thing to remember is, you're at the top of the hill -- those last couple hundred yards, you can really go all out and dig deep. In a racing situation, most of the time is really made attacking over the top of the hill and starting that downhill in a fast aggressive position. So, things to do when you get to the top, make sure you're looking ahead, surveying what's ahead, I shifted a couple gears down there in the back -- also, getting ready to shift into the big ring up front, so if I've done that I'm ready to attack this hill now. I can also, instead of attacking over the top of the hill, you can always make it your goal to get a rest -- get your drink at the top, maybe eat some sort of energy food if you have it with you, or just enjoy the beauty of your surroundings. But if you really want to put the hurt on your riding buddies, when you see the trail starting to level out, and you know it's starting to go down, that's the time when you can really throw pacing out the window. Suffer as much as you want, and then you're just in for a good descent.
