Discover the Different Riding Gear for Mountain Biking

I'm Aaron Phillips for Expert Village. Let's talk about, to beginning mountain bikers about what kind of equipment you might need for inclement weather and when you're cycling. First, just quickly, to demonstrate what the inside of a cycling short looks like. This is called chamois and it's a material that absorbs sweat, wicks moisture, and protects your behind from that seat that's bouncing into you constantly while you ride. You can use additives on this, there's one additive, it's known as a, it's basically a cream know as chamois butter, that decreases friction and makes the cycling experience more comfortable for you. This of course is a lycra short which many mountain bikers choose not to use and they instead use a more baggy short. Now, let's talk about cold weather. What are you going to do in cold weather. Well, a lot of us just choose not to ride. In mountain biking if you're out on the trails and it's been raining or it's wet you're in violation of the sort of ethical code of trail usage. So try not to ride when it's muddy. Never the less, if you get caught out in the rain there is one piece of equipment that I'm going to recommend that every mountain biker have and that's a nylon vest. This baby will keep your core warm so that when precipitation starts coming down on you from above, you shake your fist at it and you put this on. Right? And this is nylon so clearly you've got some protection from the water you've got your, it covers your neck and this is just your basic line of defense. These are designed to be very light, you've got mesh in the back to allow your back to vent out because that is where most of the heat is going to come out when you're cycling and it allows where the moisture is going to be hitting you, on your torso, for that moisture to basically bounce off and sort of drizzle off where it may. I cannot recommend a vest enough.
