How to Play Major Scales on Bass Guitar

Hi! I am Carl Shepard with expertvillage.com and we are talking about basic bass techniques here. I want to talk about major scales, something I have been using to show you different techniques with fingers, but I would like to talk about how to play major scale. Let us just take G major for example, starting here on the third fret and I am going to span four different frets here, so what I need to do is use a different finger for each fret. For the second fret I want to use my index, for the third fret I will use my middle, fourth fret ring and fifth fret pinkie. So, I when I go up the scale, I have a different finger for each note. We are playing third fret on the E, up to the fifth fret, second fret of the A, third fret, fifth fret of the A, second fret of the D, fourth fret of the D, back to the fifth fret of the D, which is the octave of G, okay. So, basically there are seven different notes in your major scale.
