I am Carl Shepard, professional bass instructor. We have been going over some basic techniques. This is kind of a trick technique in hip-hop. Lot of hip-hop grooves use this and what you want to do is change the EQ of your amp a little bit, so down here we have a low, low-mid, high-mid and then a high. These three are probably good where they are, low and the low-mid could come up a little bit, something you can do as a bass player, you typically don’t need to do up on the mike as much you have an opportunity to go back to your amp and do this in a live show. Putting it up usually, you will typically find them above midway in this regular setting and we will probably want to boost this, maybe up to about seven or eight on the volume there, the gain. Okay, and then with your left hand all you have to do is start at a fret that is may be up to twelve or little bit higher around fifteen and just slide all the way down the base, and it gives you that hip-hop low bass hit sound.
