Double Thumb Slapping Technique for Bass Guitar

My name is Carl Shepard, professional bass instructor, here to talk about slap techniques with you. One slap technique that a lot of bass players try to master but have somewhat of a challenge with is the double thumb technique and what that means is when you slap, you want your thumb to go through but you don’t want it to bounce off. If you are bouncing off then there is a motion that you can lose in that and that is coming back up with your thumb. So if you slap and your finger goes through the string instead of bouncing off then you can come back up, and this is used by a lot of, you know, popular bass players like Victor Wooten and Flea and different people like that.
