Free Throw Shooting Tips for Basketball

Let's always remember that we're going to be throwing free throws throughout the game of basketball. A couple key points to remember are getting proper rotation on the ball, good footwork, leg extension and eye level. You want to make sure that you're focused above the rim focusing on the square. Now the rotation is essentially one of the most important parts of the game because without proper rotation the ball is going to be flat. So there's a couple of ways we can help you develop your rotation. A couple of things I like to do without the ball is called reaching for the peach trees. What that does is you like to just extend as far as your arm will go and do the rotation. See my arm at a 90 degree angle and kind of extend the wrist so that it just kind of follows through. Now imagine that the ball is at the end of the wrist and it's just following through, focusing again above the rim.
