Homemade Makeup Bags: Create an Application for the Makeup Bag

Hi! I’m Candi Cane-Canncel on behalf of expertvillage.com. So in this clip I’m going to show you how to make a really cool appliquéd that we’re going to attach to one of the sides of our fun tote bag. For this appliquéd I’m just using another color felt, you can really use any type of material that you like, you want something that’s durable. But if you use a fabric that isn’t as thick as this felt you’re going to want to interface it which is basically just ironing on a stabilizer on one side of it just to give it strength, but because we’re using the felt we don’t need it. So I’m going to do a fabulous star and to do a star all you do is just take out your fabric and just simply draw, using taylor’s chalk, the shape that you want you don’t have to use the star you can use if you wanted to do a series of squares that would be fun or even something really cool like this, like a just a fun little heart would be also a possibility. And once you have it cut out you’re going to want to attach it to the center to one of your sides, get it as close to the center as possible and you’re going to want to pin it down, you want to go all the way around with your pins just to keep it stable when you go take it to the machine and do the stitch to stitch it together.
