On behalf of expertvillage.com, my name is Paul Lewis and my name is Rodney Smith and we are here to talk to you about how to become an extra for TV, movies and commercials. Let's talk a little bit about location shoots. We kind of touched a little bit about traveling from your home town to maybe do the shoot but let's elaborate further on the benefits of traveling because sometimes you may be asked to film something in a very exotic location. For instance, I was flown down to Costa Rica to do a commercial. I was one of the extras but there were very few of us so we were what we call special extras. And can we talk about special extras? Yeah, there are special extras. I've done some commercials where there were special extras. They will only call a few people; maybe like 4 people or something. I did a commercial just like that and I was a delivery man and there was like only 4 of us there. Sometimes you will work in scenes where there are hundreds of extras and the neat thing about being a special extra is that the fact that there are very few people around you, you really will get some camera time. I know the commercial that he did, in my eyes when I saw it, he was one of the main characters but really he was a special extra. When things like that does happen, you do have chances for getting like upgrades or getting residuals or things like that. So that can happen.
