Basic Shooting: How to Play Pool for Beginners
On behalf of expertvillage.com, my name is Richard Buccola and I am going to introduce you to Pool 101. I just want to go over some basic shot making skills. This is the way I was taught. If you try to make this shot in the corner, the 7 ball, and you put a line through the center of the pocket through the center of the ball, that is where you would hit. I remember as a kid my uncle teaching me this game and he would actually lick his finger and if you come around, he would lick his finger and actually wet the felt and that would be your marking point to actually hit it. So I knew if I hit that spot, it would go in. That’s an easy way to just teach somebody to see where they want to hit the ball. I just want to execute the shot and show you what I am doing when I actually hit it. I am just going to hit it dead center. That is basically your main shot. What I am doing now is I am looking at this spot and I am actually looking at the cue ball I am going to hit. When you actually shoot, you are going to look at that spot. So you look at your cue ball, look at the ball and then look at the ball, follow through and make your shot.
