Costuming & Wardrobe Expectations: Extra Work

On behalf of expertvillage.com, my name is Paul Lewis and I'm Rodney Smith and we are here to talk to you about how to become an extra for TV, movies and commercials. Sometimes there are really fun things to expect when you are working as an extra. For instance, there was a thing that you did a few weeks ago where you got to be dressed up like a Vietnam war soldier. That is right I worked on a film that Scott directed and there was a Vietnam war scene, so we all had to recreate that. We had the combat gear, helmets, paint our faces and put mud all over us and we worked with guns. Got to work with big guns. So you know that can be kind of fun. You know when do I get a chance to dress up like that. So you will find yourself in situations where you are in costumes that are not great, especially when there are period pieces, for instance like if something is turn of the century. You may have to report to wardrobe and give you a whole incredible costume to wear. If you have a camera, you can take a picture of yourself. I know I did in my combat gear and it is something fun to have but never know what to expect when you are on a set regarding wardrobe.
