Hand & Body Position Part 2: How to Play Pool for Beginners

On behalf of expertvillage.com, my name is Richard Buccola and I am going to introduce you to Pool 101. Okay, we were talking about holding the stick and I just wanted to let everyone know that we are going to find our balance point. We are going to come a few inches behind it. I want to show you exactly how I stand over the stick. I’m going to keep my right hand over my right foot. What I am going to do is take a step up, turn a little bit, turn my feet and then just come over the stick. You also want to hold this right hand very loose. You don’t want to be so tight on the grip but I’m sure everyone heard if you didn’t, stroking the stick. Stroking the stick you actually want to have your right arm almost at the right angle over that foot and you want to go back almost like a pendulum move; same speed back and same speed forward. Most of your shots are going to be executed when you hit dead center on the cue ball and having that pendulum move is how you want to develop your stroke. When I come back, I am going to talk more about hitting the cue ball.
