Strategies for High-Ranking Pieces in Stratego

Hi! This is Ken and I’m talking to you about the basics of Stratego. I got my board setup, I have other pieces to put here. I mentioned earlier that I like to put a high ranking member somewhere towards the front, because that helps kill off other pieces. The way move: they can move one piece forward, one way sideways, one way back. You can not move diagonally. You can not jump over the lake. Here’s the danger…I’m my turn, I move forward. The other person moves his piece forward. On my next turn, I go here, and what’s happen. I’ve hit a bomb and I’ve lost a high ranking piece. A danger of keeping a person, who’s of a high rank at a 8 or a 7 or a 9, to the front is that you can get them killed by bomb or my the opposing marshal or general. It might even be safer to keep them sort of towards the back and then to bring them up once you know where there’s a piece. If I know that this is a number 6 or a number 5, I’m going to bring this piece into play, because I want to get rid of that piece. This person can move back. You not move back, forward, back, forward, more than 3 times. Thank you.
