Marshall Setup Strategy for Stratego the Board Game
Hi! This is Ken and I’m today to talk about Stratego. The 2 next important pieces that I place are the marshal, which is number10, and the scout. I usually place them together, because the marshal is the highest-ranking member and he’s the only one who can protect the scout. And the scout, as I pointed out before, is the one who can take care of the other marshal on the other side. So, there’s 2 different ways I play them. I can put them in the back to be safe, I can put them somewhere in my flag. Here I’m going to hide them behind my flag, because they don’t really come into play until later in the game once we’ve established where the flag is. There’s going to be another enemy marshal over there. Once we find out where he is, and we remember where the pieces are, we start moving the minor forward or backward. You can move sideways or backwards. You start moving the minors up towards getting rid of the other marshal, but this marshal has to be in position to protect him at all times, so that’s why I place it. Sometimes I’ll put my number 9 character, which is the general or number 8, up towards the front too just as a way to getting rid of some other pieces. Thank you.
