Miner Placement & Capabilities in Stratego

Hi! This is Ken and I’m here today to talk to you about the basics of Stratego. Basically, we’ve got our scouts setup, we got the flag hidden, we got the bombs put out. The next characters I’m going to put on the board are the minors, number 3. The minor’s job is to defuse the bombs, so I use my scouts. I take my scout over here and boom. I know there’s a mine there. It’s not a bad idea to put some the scouts behind the minors, because they’re going to find the bombs first. So, I keep my scouts somewhere near the front, I mean my minors, because I want to defuse my bombs. I might keep a minor in the back, just in case when they get to the back row. I think that’s where the flag for the opponents is going to be, because that’s where they are usually put, so I want to save a minor to defuse those flags around the back. The way the game works, I start off, and this is a bomb so this is my scout. Boom, he’s off the board. Then it’s the other person’s turn. The pieces move one piece forward, just like in checkers. Then I have a minor back here, so I move him forward. I know that’s going to be a bomb, so on my next move I can defuse that bomb and take it off the board. That’s what I use the minors for. Thank you,
