Scout Placement for the Stratego Board Game
Hi! This is Ken and I’m here today to talk to you about the game of Stratego. I’ve got my flag setup. I got a high-ranking member. I’ve got some bombs hidden. That’s how I start off. Then the next person I put out are my scouts, that’s the number 2. Usually I put my scouts towards the front. And the way the scouts work is they can travel as many positions as you want, and that’s how they can determine what the other piece are, that’s their job. Anyone’s going to beat them. Again, these pieces will be turned the other way. Let’s say it’s my turn, I can go all the way down here, because I can move as many spaces as I want, and I say what’s that piece, and that is an 8. That’s how I know where it is. I’ve got to take my piece off the board. That’s how I get to know where my opponent’s pieces are, and I try to search out for where the flag is. I use the scouts for that purpose. So I normally put my scouts along the front line like this. I don’t want to waste all my scouts so sometimes I’ll put some of them in the back row just as backups. After I lose the front ones, I might want to have another scout in the back. Thank you.
