Hi my name is Carey Kepler I'm a functional training coach and a triathlon coach I work with beginner to intermediate triathlete's and for more information you can go to my web at www.boundles-energy.com. I want to talk to you about transition station and what it should look like and how to get it set up. Most efficiently for yourself so make sure when your packing your bag the night before your race you have your swim goggles, your swim cap, that they will give to you with your number on it or the color need to swim with. So make sure you have those 2 your swimsuit that's the first thing your going to put on. If your going to wear a wetsuit make sure that you package that wetsuit up bring an extra towel so make sure that you have that. So if the tempature of the water is 78 degrees or belower you can swim in a wetsuit which are going to want to do. So you might want invest in that, that's your swim second you got your bike so make sure you loaded up your bike. Make sure you loaded up water bottles to take that you want to have on your bike, make sure that your maintaince pack is on your bike with all of your tools and equipment that your have during the bike portion. Make sure that you have sunglasses that your going to want to wear for the bike portion make sure you have helmet your not going to be able compete without a helmet. And again obviously your going to need your bike, and if you specially have the clip less pedals your going to need your bike shoes, make sure you pack those. And then of course your going to need your run gear which basically consist of your running shoes your already going to have your sunglasses packed up and your run belt. I do suggest that for triathlete's you get the running belt it's quick and easy all you do is put the number that they give you, that you have to have during the run, you can quickly open that belt you can actually take off running with it. And while your moving you can put it on and place it around your stomach so that takes time and that's what you want to do. If you want if you know it's going to be hot and sunny I'd even bring a cap have that down on your towel and ready so make sure you might throw it in just in case. Your run towel and your run equipment gear when they have you set up your bike your going to want to set your towel down right next to your transition station. Next to your bike lay out your towel your going to take off with your goggles and swim cap you don't have to worry, you want your second thing is going have your bike shoes. Okay make sure that the velcro is open and you can slip into those quickly, second in above that for the bike you want to make sure put helmet on your bike let it sit there open so when you grab it you can place it on the head. Okay there not going to let you leave the transition station without it clipped make sure you clip it right when you put it on you don't have to worry about it and I suggest that your sunglasses in your helmet you can throw those on first, helmet on second and then you can take off, run with your bike. You already got your shoes on you can run with your shoes, that's quickest and easy way for your bike set up transition and then when you come back in from the bike your going to place your bike on the rack, remove your helmet you already got your sunglasses on slip out of your shoes, bike shoes and ride into your run shoes. If you got those run zip shoes you don't have to worry about tieing I suggest you don't use socks you save time and make sure you might to test that out and see if your going to get blisters hopefully, not but I suggest by saving time you don't need to put the socks on. Also lacing goo or whatever energy gel, energy packet you want to use a bar something so that you can grab nutrition head out run with the nutrition and you can eat it as you go. You don't have to sit there and eat, eat your nutrition also what I suggest duck tape some of your nutrition onto your bike have it stuck on there and also if your wearing a jersey or have something that has pockets you can drop some nutrition in there. After your swim portion you can grab it, it's always on you if you need extra, you want to make sure that you have some nutrition on your bike have nutrition on your towel so that you can take off and run with it. Those are the essential components to transition station your going to learn a lot from your first triathlon and what not do and what to do, so good luck and hope all of you love triathlon after your first one, thanks.
