Filling the Bottle in Ocean in a Bottle Experiment

Hi this is Scott Thompson from expertvillage.com and today I'm going to demonstrate a way to build a ocean in a bottle and demonstrate that some solutions just do not mix. Well, to build our ocean in a bottle, I'm going to use one of the test tubes that we talked about earlier. It got a little bit of baby oil in it already. All you have to do is open it up. Start putting water into it; the water will sink to the bottom because it is heavier, more dense then the oil. Get up as close as you can to the very top. Some of it might spill over in fact, but that is alright. Then with the food coloring of your choice, we will make a red one today. Put in a few drops of food coloring. Then put the cap back on. Depending on the age of the students that you are working with, you can do as much as this ahead of time as you choose.
