Supplies Needed for Water & Surface Tension Experiments

Hi this is Scott Thompson from expertvillage.com, and today we are going to demonstrate how you can show a group of students that water actually has skin. In this science activity we are going to have a chance to show some students that water actually has a skin. This surprises a lot of people because they think water is wet and it flows real easy. Well it does actually have a skin that you can demonstrate. What we are going to need for this demonstration... makes it real handy if you have an eyedropper, just a basic eyedropper; some paper clips... this one has already has been bent to the shape that we are going to use eventually, but they can be different sizes. We are going to try to actually use this big monster clip here also. A piece of plastic to do our initial demonstration; just a baggy works really well, laid flat. Then some dish soap, and I got a little supply of dish soap—any soap will work well I've got it handy here in a little container. One of the requirements is that you have a pan of water set up. This can be any size. We chose a nice dark glass just so the paper clip is going to show up cleanly, but any size vessel will do.
