Hand Position for Shuffling a Deck of Cards

Hi welcome back Expert Village I'm Pete Perata and now I'm going to talk about hand positioning. Hand positioning is important for shuffling because if you don't have the proper hand position, your shuffles won't come out properly and the cards may spring or jog away from you. There's a couple of things you probably want to work on that helps out your shuffling to be better and to maximize your shuffling potential. The first of these are hand strength. If you got good hand strength you would be able to control the cards more so they won't slip away from you. As well you would get a better randomization because the cards will interlock better. If you don't have a solid strength on the cards they tend to not interlock properly and not shuffle down together. Hand strength is important because it allows you to hold the deck in your hands which makes it easier to split cards, as well allows you to get a proper band when you do a riffle shuffle. You want good hand strength so the cards come down evenly. Finger placement is also very important when you are dealing with shuffling cards. If you don't have the proper finger placement your shuffles might not come together correctly. You want to take your thumbs and place them at the back of the deck like so. You could then either use you index fingers or your middle fingers to grab the deck on the outside so you could lift the entire section of the deck up off the table like this. This gets in you position ready to split the deck into two which put you in position ready to do a riffle shuffle. Finger placement as well as hand strings are not things that you master right away. You have to build up in order to get those skills down.
