Hi! This is Chris and on behalf of expertvillage.com in this clip we are going to talk about the importance of a first aid kit for beginning hiking. Now there is really no circumstance which you should not bring a first aid kit with you in any of these activities. That is why we are highlighting it under this segment it is vitally important that you bring along a first aid kit. Now for basic hiking pretty much just requires a basic first aid kit however, including with that kit I strongly recommend that you bring a elastic wrap such as this the reason we want to bring this along is because most accidents that happen relating to hiking are breaks or springs. So in the field if you are out, away from civilization and you can not get back immediately this wrap should keep your strain or break in position while trying to travel back to safety. So that is a vital piece that yo want to include in your hiking first aid kit. As well you want a lot of the basic first aid requirements such as ointment anti bacterial ointments, such as a triple antibiotics ointment this is for cuts, abrasion, and scrapes, keeps from affection occurring, you would also like to bring basic painkiller Advil, aspirin, Tylenol, for headaches, asthma or other related things where a basic painkiller could be helpful. You also want to bring along some antiseptic cloths or swabs these could be used for cuts and abrasion as well but you may just want to use it to treat it prior to doing anything further as far as putting a ointment on or anything else related. As well some smelling salt is good in case if somebody does pass out for some reason from heat exhaustion or just plain exhaustion and q-tips to apply some of these thing to wounds or abrasion or cuts. That is a good basic starting kit for beginning hiking.
