To play an F7 in root position in the 3rd position of the guitar neck place your ring finger on the 8th fret of the 5th string. Your middle finger on the 7th fret of the 4th string and your pinky on the 8th fret of the 4th string, 3rd string excuse me. Your forefinger on the 6th fret of the 2nd string so again that was ring finger on the 8th of the 5th, 7th of the 4th, 8th of the 3rd and 6th of the 2nd. Play on the middle four strings and your chord should sound like this.
