To play an F sharp 7 in 1st inversion approaching the 3rd position of the neck place your ring finger on the 6th fret of the bottom string. Mute the 5th string with your meat of your ring finger then place your fore finger on the 4th fret, 4th string. Pinky on the 3rd fret (I mean) 3rd string at the 6th fret and your middle finger on the 5th fret, 2nd string. Play only the bottom five strings and your chord should sound like this.
