Jack Lines Using a Marver for Glassblowing

Hi! I’m Jim McKelvey with Third Degree Glass Factory in St. Louis. You can check us out on the web at www.stlglass.com. Today, we’re going to learn about glassblowing for expertvillage.com. Another neat way to put jack lines into a piece, is to do it on the marver itself. All you do is use the edge of the marver to roll in that jack line. This is especially good if the piece is very heavy, because the weight of the piece itself will provide the pressure for putting in that jack line. So there we go, with a jack line. Now, I’m not necessarily done jacking the piece, but that was a lot easier than starting it with jack by itself.
