Hockey Penalties: Unsportsmanlike Conduct

The last penalty we're going to show you is unsportsmanlike conduct. Now this happens when you argue with a ref, you make obscene gestures to another player or the ref or even the fans. It also happens if the player's sticks are, the curves are too open. Or if the goalies stick is too open. You can get called for unsportsmanlike conduct. And now I'm going to show you some examples. So let's say we have Dan, our ref here. And I'm upset about a call and I'm just bad mouthing, trash talking the ref. You know I'm just going to get, I'm going to get called for unsportsmanlike conduct. Also if even make any kind of physical abuse to the ref; I'm going to get called for it. So if this is the ref and I walk by and I kind of put a shoulder or even a little tap like that. I'm going to get called for it. Also if an opposing coach or player thinks that another team has a goalie or player with an illegal curve, they can ask the ref to go check and measure the size of the curve. If you get caught you're going to get an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty. This penalty can also lead to a minor, a major, misconduct, game misconduct or even a match penalty.
