Sewing Crossed Piping Ends

O'kay so now we're going to talk about how to end this piping and there are certain situations where you will want to end piping say if you are making a pillow or you are lining the mouth of a hand bag or something like that. In some situations you would never use this like a collar that is not going to meet end to end. In situations like a pillow say you are going to need to put the piping pieces together. There are two different techniques and I am going to show you how to crisscross. Say this is the beginning and maybe this is the entire pillow so let's just start sewing it. Let's start here and instead of starting at the end start about an inch in. Remember that you do unless you are on a curve do not pull the fabric just put the dog feet underneath and pull it the way you should slowly. That is basically the beginning of our piping but if we are going to finish it off say we're coming around the edge and this is where the piping is going to be at the end. Make sure you have about an inch on both sides. We're coming to the end of the piping around this project. I'm not pulling the piping or anything and what I am going to do is lay this one to the side and lay this one on top and crisscross this one a tiny bit to the side. This one is kind of tricky too just a little bit because you don't want to pull too much; you just want to lay it barely on top. Everything is hidden there and you want to make it as smooth as possible. It needs to go over the top, there we go. O'kay so there it is on one side and on the next side I am going to show you how to put the top layer on and sandwich it in between two layers and then layer it out.
