Marking Fabric Strips for Piping

So now that we have our bias edge cut, what we're going to do, is we're going to make strips that wrap around the cord like I showed you. And since its a quarter inch piping, I'm going to be safe and make sure that I have just about 2 1/2 inches. And that might be a little bit too much, but I can cut some off, and that's ok. Each size of piping gets different amounts of fabric. So, from this edge mark 2 1/2 inches over. And that's what you are going to do, all the way along this edge, all the way back to the top. There we go. All the way up to the top. And then that?s one strip. So we have one strip ready to go, but if for the project you are making, you need a lot of piping, that's not going to be enough. So, what do you do? You just make more strips. So you go over from the marks you all ready made, and do 2 1/2 inches. In fact, for the project, for us making this piping, I'm going to put three pieces together to give you an idea of how its going to go about. So, we've got 2 1/2 inches, 2 1/2 inches and another 2 1/2 inches. So that makes one, two, three strips. There we go. Lets do all the way to the top. And if you want, if you feel comfortable doing this, you can do this, just fill it in with the chalk. Because you are going to be cutting this and you want it to be right. And I'm not too worried about that, so I'm not going to fill in all of mine. But for you at home, if you want to do that, to make sure that your strips are very very strait, you can do that. So in the next clip I want to show you how to use your scissors and make these nice and strait. And then we'll learn how to make that piping after that.
