This particular base that comes with your set from the factory is called a corner base. What it does, it has a fixed bit already on it and it will allow your trimmer to trim those very hard to reach corners. In order to attach it you have to remove the regular base and you also need to remove your bit that is already in it. Inside you will see a little belt that belt has to slip over, sometimes it's hard to get, and then you tighten it up. Now as you can see that bit that was right here in the middle of the base all of a sudden is offset way to the corner. With the switch on it will allow you to go in the places that are very very hard to reach. Thank you.
