Let's talk about this particular base. It came with your case and its part of the package that DeWalt sends with it. This is called an off-set base or an angle base. Basically, what it does, it allow you to tilt the whole machine in case you have to do some angle trimming, which is happening quite often. The base is very much attached in the same way as the regular base. That means that you unlock the level, you slide a regular base off, you slide the angle and you lock the angle in place. Do you remember, we have the locking screw and we have the adjustments screw? This is exactly the same way on this here. Now however, you have this little contraption. By loosening up those buttons, as you can see, you can adjust the angle of the bit. So, it can serve also as a regular square base. It was created just as a set for angle trimming. Thank-you.
