We think that after the root canal is done, the infection is completely eliminated. But, on the contrary we do know now that once the root canal is done the infection is pushed out of the chamber. It's not in the chamber of the tooth. So, that tooth is healthy. But at the same time, a lot of times these bacteria sits right at the end of root. And, when it does so when your immune system is compromised or basically when you have a cold or when you have allergies or something like that, our teeth tend to be more sensitive or irritated. And, in a certain time and point if our oral hygiene is not good these bacteria will try to rebuild itself. And, they come back again and reinfect the tooth. And, in doing so a treated root canal tooth can be reinfected again. And, sometimes we see that right after the treatment. Sometimes, we don't see that for years and years to come. So it's not a hundred percent. For the most part a root canal treatment, give or take it's about eighty-five percent successful. So, you do have that little window of uncertainty of the tooth not being able to save.
