Fitting the Bridge of Children's Eyeglasses

Two major parts of fitting glasses properly. Basically, for anyone. But, for a child it's probably going to be more important. Because, they're going to be more prone to getting them out of whack. Ok. So, the first thing we're going to talk about is the bridge of glasses. Ok. We want the bridge to fit properly. Now, a couple of things. If you go with what we call a zyle frame or a plastic frame. You'll notice here, there are no nose pads. This is just one solid frame. This is going to be impossible to adjust. Or, nearly impossible. Ok. So, when I fit a child in this type of frame we really have to make sure that the nose fits in there pretty snug. You don't want this bridge moving around and having too much leeway. It's going to slide back and forth and not be tight to the child's face. It's going to fall, it's going to drop. So, for a child that is wearing this type of frame you want to make sure initially that this fits. Because, if it doesn't you're going to have problems throughout. So, this is not a one size fits all deal. And, there's very little adjustments that can be done. Although, we can bend these in a little bit to make them feel a little bit more snug. The second thing I'll show you, in terms of the bridge is going to be a metal bridge. Or, a metal frame with a bridge with these nose pads that can be brought in. Ok. These pads can be adjusted. There are tools for this. But, for the purposes of this video I'll just show you with my fingers. You can manipulate this, ok. These aren't super fragile, they do have some malleability. You can move them around. And, this is adjustable. So, you can make these wider so that you can fit a wider nose. And, of course bring them in tighter so you can fit them into somebody who has more of a narrow bridge. So, this gives you a lot of leeway. It's almost preferable, I think to have the metal bridge. Although, sometimes children I find like to push this way out. Because, the pads are kind of discomforting to them. But, I think over time the child gets used to that. And, understands that's what kind of holds the glasses into place. Ok. So, just keep these two things into consideration when dealing with the bridges of plastic and metal frames.
